Steven Wingfield, DMD
With a gentle hand and an eye for perfection, Dr. Wingfield specializes in general, cosmetic, and implant dentistry in Buckhead/Midtown, Atlanta. Committed to creating the perfect smile for everyone who walks through the door, he has celebrated an illustrious dental career that has transcended country borders. He specializes in evidence-based dentistry with a focus on helping patients achieve balanced oral and systemic health and is committed to establishing a stable foundation of health through dentistry and boosting self-confidence through a gorgeous smile.
Inspired to pursue a career in dentistry by his family dentist in his hometown of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Dr. Wingfield attended Western Kentucky University where he graduated cum laude. He continued his educational endeavors at the University of Louisville and graduated with the title of the Academy of Operative Dentistry’s Student of the Year along with his dental degree. Soon after, he launched his career with the United States Navy Dental Corps and graduated with top honors from their Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program. During his four years of service, he had the unique opportunity to serve on the forward-deployed Bravo Surgical Company in Operation Iraqi Freedom. It was there that Dr. Wingfield was able to fine-tune his craft under the most extreme situations and had his skills tested when he encountered a young Iraqi boy who had suffered severe facial injuries during a raid on his neighborhood. Dr. Wingfield expertly cared for and treated the boy, and in that defining moment, he knew that he had the opportunity to truly and positively impact the quality of life for his patients. He has received numerous awards, including a Navy Commendation Medal and two Navy Achievement Medals.
Just as passionate about education as he is about dentistry, Dr. Wingfield has logged over 1,400 hours of dental continuing education and served as Director of Education for Nanston Dental Group. His dedication to his craft has contributed to the Consumers’ Research Council of America naming him “One of America’s Top Dentists” from 2005-2010. He is a consultant for the 3M™ ESPE™ Council for Innovative Dentistry, which manufactures and markets more than 2,000 products and services designed to help dental professionals improve their patients’ oral health care, and lectures extensively on the topic of periodontal disease for Zila Pharmaceuticals. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Academy of General Dentistry and is a member of the Hinman Dental Society, Fellow with the Academy of General Dentistry, and active member of North Georgia Dental Society, Georgia Dental Association, American Dental Association, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Shiva Nikain, DDS
Dr. Nikain practices family and cosmetic dentistry, with a passion for both adult and pediatric care. Her practice philosophy is to provide excellent dental care to all her patients in a friendly, relaxing, and caring environment. She considers interacting with her patients the most rewarding part of her day.
Dr. Nikain’s undergraduate work was completed at Houston Baptist University. She was a cum laude graduate and received numerous honors, including the President’s Award, Outstanding Community Service Award, and Dean’s List recognition. She completed her dental education at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, one of the top dental schools in the country. During her dental education, she was very active in several public health services, such as Miles for Smiles and community dentistry in south Texas. She graduated cum laude in 2003 and received the Excellence in Clinical Dentistry Award.
Dr. Nikain practiced dentistry in Texas before she moved to Georgia in 2006. She has been practicing in Atlanta since then and performs a wide range of dental services such as tooth-colored fillings, crown and bridge work, cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry, and ClearCorrect™ aligner treatment. She continues to advance in her career by attending seminars and courses on the latest technologies, enhancements, and research. Dr. Nikain and her husband enjoy traveling, playing the piano, outdoor sports, community involvement, and charity work.
Dave McCollum, DMD
Above all else, Dr. McCollum aims to uphold a patient-first approach to dentistry. Born and raised in Roswell, Georgia, he takes pride in serving his local community and strives to provide high-quality care and to develop personal relationships with each of his patients.
Dr. McCollum completed his undergraduate education at the University of Georgia and then completed his dental education and training at Roseman University of Health Sciences in Utah. He is proficient in providing a broad scope of dental treatments including restorative, cosmetics, orthodontics, and implant dentistry.
Committed to ongoing education through courses, seminars, and conferences, he aims to employ as many up-to-date technologies as possible in his practice of dentistry. Outside of the office, Dr. McCollum is an avid fan of Georgia Bulldogs football and loves traveling to Athens to watch the Dawgs play. He also enjoys outdoor recreation with his wife, Caroline, and their two rescue dogs, Lincoln and Ellie.
Mirela M. Hubcheva, DMD
Dr. Hubcheva grew up in Marietta, GA. Dentistry became a passion of hers when she was in high school, and she never looked back. She attended the University of Georgia, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in biology. She then graduated from the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University, earning a Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree. She is also an active member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Her family background sparked a passion for traveling and exploring different cultures. In her free time she enjoys outdoor activities, trying new cuisines, and spending time with family and friends.
Above all, taking care of patients is her biggest passion. She loves communicating with patients of all ages. She strongly believes that overall health starts with good oral care and a smile is one’s most valuable asset, which is why she chose Midtown Smile Center.
Dr. Hubcheva is excited to be a part of Midtown Smile Center and the community it serves, where she is able to apply her knowledge of preventative, aesthetic, restorative, and family dentistry.
Peter C. Shatz, DDS
Dr. Shatz received his dental training at McGill University and his periodontal training at Louisiana State University. He has lectured both nationally and internationally on the topics of Periodontal Plastic Surgery, Dental Implantology, and Hard & Soft Tissue Regenerative Techniques. He is also a co-author of “The Suture Book,” “Principles of Soft Tissue Surgery,” and “Principles of Hard Tissue Bone Grafting,” and has authored a chapter in “Implant Site Development,” Sonick, Hwang & Saadoun. He has contributed to dental literature with multiple scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Shatz has served as President of the Northwestern District Dental Society of the Georgia Dental Association and is the current Vice-President Elect and Chair of Finance for the Georgia Dental Association, the General Chair for the 2024 ADA SmileCon, a member of the Georgia ADA Delegation, and a Consultant to the Georgia Board of Dentistry. He has been granted Fellowship in the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the International College of Dentists and was honored to be included in the “Top Leaders in Continuing Education” by Dentistry Today, 2009-2020.
Hayes Burrow, DMD, MD
Native to Atlanta, Dr. Burrow was born and raised in Dunwoody, GA. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in Nutrition Science – Go Dawgs! He then became a Teach for America Corps member and taught middle school math and technology in the low-income areas of Los Angeles. He went on to receive his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia, where he graduated summa cum laude. Pursuing his interest in dentoalveolar surgery, he obtained additional training at the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry. There he gained significant experience in dentoalveolar surgery, such as wisdom teeth extractions, surgical extractions, implant placement, bone grafting, soft tissue grafting, sleep apnea treatment, and temporomandibular disorders. He also obtained a Doctorate of Medicine and completed a General Surgery Internship at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Dr. Burrow is a compassionate and empathetic practitioner who values his patient’s experience above all else. He works hard to provide easy, enjoyable, and quality dental surgery for all his patients. Dr. Burrow enjoys the outdoors, cooking, playing guitar, and quality time with his loved ones.
